Short version: our filter is medical-grade H11 HEPA rated to capture at least 95% of PM2.5, the unit is independently tested for electromagnetic safety, and we are honest about what a filter can and cannot do on a moving helmet.
What we test for
Easi Breezi is an active air-filtration unit that clips to a helmet and draws air through a replaceable filter before you breathe it. Two things matter: how well the filter captures fine particles, and whether the electronics are safe and reliable. We test both.
Filtration: H11 medical-grade HEPA
The Easi Breezi filter uses H11-grade HEPA media rated to capture at least 95% of particles at the 0.3-micron most-penetrating size — the size band that includes the PM2.5 most dangerous to your lungs. HEPA is a defined standard, not a marketing word: H11 media is rated to that efficiency against recognised filtration standards.
Why 0.3 microns matters
Filters are least efficient at roughly 0.3 microns; particles both larger and smaller are captured more easily. Rating a filter at its hardest size is the honest way to state performance, which is why HEPA grades are defined there.
Electromagnetic safety (EMC)
Because the unit is a powered device worn near your head, we had it independently tested for electromagnetic compatibility by an accredited third-party EMC laboratory against the relevant European EMC standard. This confirms the device does not emit harmful interference and operates safely alongside other electronics.
Durability
The unit is built to an IP67 ingress rating — protected against dust and temporary water immersion — because riders get caught in rain and dust, and a filter housing that fails in the wet is useless.
What we are honest about
- Fit changes everything. A filter only protects the air it actually moves. Real-world protection depends on how the unit seats against your helmet and face; we design for a good seal, but no wearable is a sealed cleanroom.
- Gases are different from particles. HEPA captures particulate matter (PM2.5, soot, dust). It does not remove gaseous pollutants like benzene or NO₂ — that is a job for activated-carbon media, which we are developing separately.
- Ratings are lab figures. The 95% figure is the filter media's rated capture efficiency. On-road performance varies with speed, airflow, and fit.
